KrollScreen Cup

The KrollScreen Cup is a rapid, user-friendly, qualitative immunoassay test used to determine the presence of drugs. The FDA-registered cup allows for easy, sin¬gle-step urine collection and testing while keeping the device tamper-proof. Each cup is self-contained for easy transfer to a laboratory for confirmatory testing and includes a temperature and identification label to ensure specimen integrity and documentation. The device has built-in controls that monitor the testing process, and the foil wrapped test device can be stored at room temperature for 18 months. The FDA 510(K) registered detection strips being integrated into the collection cup limit contact with the urine specimen and device tampering, allow for easy, single-step urine collection and testing, and provide results within 5 minutes. Each cup has a temperature strip affixed to its side to enable users to verify the validity of the specimen as the urine is provided. The testing device draws urine from the bottom of the split specimen well, thereby eliminating the need to tip or shake the device. A large clear viewing window allows for easy, accurate reading of results within three to eight minutes. An opaque sticker on the front of the device keeps results confidential until the authorized individual is ready to view them.

Kroll offers several configurations of the KrollScreen Cup, including combinations of four (4) to ten (10) drugs and specimen validity testing.

KrollScreen Integrated Split Key Cup

The KrollScreen Integrated Split Key Cup is a rapid, user-friendly, qualitative immunoassay test used to determine the presence of drugs. The device integrates a collection cup with the testing device but separates the sample well to split the urine for the device’s testing. The FDA-registered cup allows for easy, sin¬gle-step urine collection and testing while keeping the device tamper-proof. The device comes with a uniquely designed key that activates the testing procedure so that the test can be performed at the collector’s convenience. When the key is inserted into the side of the device cup, a portion of the urine is separated to perform the analysis, leaving the remaining urine unaffected by the testing procedure. The testing device draws urine from the bottom of the split specimen well, thereby eliminating the need to tip or shake the device. The device has built-in controls that monitor the testing process, and the foil-wrapped test device can be stored at room temperature for 18 months.

OrAlert Oral Fluid Testing Device

The OrAlert Oral Fluid Drug Test Device is a patent-pending method for the non-invasive, instant detection of multiple drugs in human oral fluid. Using a multi-drug, multi-line lateral flow immunoas¬say, the OrAlert device enables the qualitative detec¬tion of drugs and drug metabolites. The device and its use of oral fluid eliminate the need for special equip¬ment, same-gender collections, and complicated train¬ing. Additionally, because oral fluid is difficult to alter or adulterate, the specimen’s integrity can be assured. Testing kits include all components for testing, including a procedure card to minimize collection and testing errors. The device itself is self-contained for easy transfer to a laboratory for confirmatory testing and includes a label to aid in specimen identification. A clear viewing area allows for easy, accurate reading of results within 10 minutes. The device has built-in controls that monitor the testing process, and the foil-wrapped test device can be stored at room temperature for 24 months.

NOTE: KrollScreen testing cups and oral fluid test devices utilize a similar technique for analyzing the concentration of drugs in the body as labs use, but any non-negative test results from a point of collection test should be considered preliminary. A more specific method must be used in order to obtain a confirmation. The United States’ Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has established gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) as the preferred confirmatory method. As users of Kroll’s products, you may elect to forward specimens that screen suspect positive to one of Kroll’s SAMHSA-certified laboratories for re-screen and confirmation.

AlcoScreen

The AlcoScreen test is a rapid, highly sensitive method to test for alcohol in human oral fluid and can serve as a monitor for alcohol consumption. The device is so effective that it has been tested and approved by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for required testing of all transportation and safety sensitive employees for blood alcohol concentrations above the federally mandated zero tolerance level of 0.02%. The simple, one-step test is a clean, non-invasive procedure that requires no instrumentation, calibration, or special training to be used effectively. Easy-to-interpret results are available in as little as two minutes. The device has built-in controls that monitor the testing process, and the individually wrapped test device can be stored at room temperature.

Lab-based Oral Fluid Testing

In addition to urine-based testing for substances of abuse, Kroll can also provide oral fluid testing services using the Intercept© Oral Fluid Collection Device. Oral fluid testing allows for ease of collection. The non-invasive method does not require special collection facilities necessitated by the privacy requirements of a urine collection, and the donor is not required to take any special action to “produce” a specimen, eliminating a shy bladder situation. Additionally, because each collection can be directly observed, donor tampering with the specimen is virtually eliminated.

To perform oral fluid testing, the donor places the collection pad between his/her lower cheek and gum for two to five minutes. The collection pad is then put into a vial, sealed, and sent with a completed chain of custody form to Kroll for analysis. While the testing process is still two-part, the amount of drug or drug metabolite present in oral fluid is much lower than that present in urine. This necessitates the use of slightly different technologies from those used to test urine. For the initial test, Kroll uses an FDA-approved enzyme-like immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and confirms suspect positive test results by Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS). Although the testing methodology is slightly different, clients using oral fluid testing can expect the same level of quality and service guiding our urine-based testing operations.
